Elloree finished the TelEx to her sister and then decided to take a walk around the grounds. While she was out, she heard the grumble of a duster approaching her. At first, she thought it was Mr. Darkeny again and she sought a manner of quick escape. But as the figure approached, she noted that it wasn’t, in fact, Mr. Darkeny, but instead his cousin Esq. FlintRoy. She could handle speaking with him. Elloree found him to be very cordial and not at all like his cousin Mr. Darkeny.

“Miss Elloree, may I join you on your walk?” he called out to her.

She nodded her acquiescence and he abandoned his antique motorcycle.

“How do you ride those things?” she asked as he walked alongside of her.

“They are quite difficult as they require quite equal parts balance and bravery on the part of the rider. But they have several attributes that recommend them.”

“Such as?”

“They have no droid system so they can’t be hacked or traced for one. Also, they are without match in measure for the amount of exhilaration and excitement they bestow upon their rider. When you are on one feeling the power between your legs and hearing the almost deafening sound of the engine in your ears, you are almost lulled into a state of transfixed reflection. It is quite mesmerizing.”

Elloree had to admit that after a description as such, she was quite tempted to take a ride on a duster as well. It sounded absolutely enthralling, as did Esq. FlintRoy’s voice when he espoused said description. She stole a glance at his face and noticed that he was quite attractive. He had features very similar to Darkeny’s though not as stately or pronounced. But Esq. FlintRoy’s pleasant disposition made him so much more handsome than Mr. Darkeny in Elloree’s opinion.

She felt a flutter in her chest. Was she falling for Esq. FlintRoy? This could not be so. It would be very difficult being married to a man so closely related to a man she didn’t like very much. Elloree decided it best to keep talking and resist the urge to let her mind wander on ridiculous tangents.

“But aren’t dusters inconvenient?” she asked. “You can’t take them over water and so much of this planet is water.”

Esq. FlintRoy laughed. “That was exactly my argument at first. And yes, they are quite impractical for many portions of the planet. But conveniently, Pemberton, Capital City, and Lightly Manor are all connected by land. It was Mr. Darkeny who convinced me that travel by duster was the best way for this trip.”

“Ah, I see. It was evil Mr. Darkeny who convinced you to ride that evil contraption. What brought you to Lightly Manor this week anyway?”

“You do my cousin a grave disservice if you think him evil. He is quite the caring and attentive acquaintance. If he weren’t already my cousin, he would be my best friend. It is upon his wishes that we are at Lightly Manor. Comtesa Kaboline may be my aunt
